Christmas 2007 in February 2012

If ever a pair of socks deserved a "Ta Daaaah!" it is these.
Highland Schottische Kilt Hose by Nancy Bush from Folk Socks.

They were started way way back in November 2007, finished on the 10th February 2012, arrived in their new home today and will be off on Honeymoon to Scandinavia soon!
Here are some shots I took before I parcelled them up (they are a little too small for me).

For two socks knit 4 years apart they aren't that bad!

There is one place they are definitely fraternal - the calf shaping - but no one is perfect...

I am so glad they are finally finished!

WIP Wednesday - A flowery blanket

This week crochet has taken over from the knitting. I started a sock, however it seems it will fit Thomas, not Owen. Ho hum. Thomas needs welly socks too so it isn't a problem. However it is Owen's birthday very soon so I do need to get a wriggle on with those.

I have to tear myself away from this first though....
Baby number 4 for one of my best friends, she has three blankets already; it wouldn't be fair to leave this one out.

Flowery blanket
The flower squares are based on Marigold from Jan Eaton's 200 crochet blocks - or rather the middle bit is. I think the squares will block to 25cm x 25cm. My calculations tell me I can get 4.5 squares out of each ball - so the two balls will give me a 75cm square blanket. However, I think I will want to add a border, so will probably order another ball.

WIP Wednesday - Sock news

I'm nearly there with the Kilt Hose. I can hardly believe it.

So much so I am thinking about my next sock project with these #bargainballs from Kemps.

Regia Campus Colour
Regia 6 ply DK weight sock yarn. Katie was knitting socks from it in York and a number of us have followed suit and bought some of these "bargain balls"!
I'm planning on a pair of welly socks for my soon-to-be 5 year old Godson with the the one on the bottom left and a baby blanket with the top two.

Making Monday - A new skirt

In 2009 I bought a Clothkits Birdie Skirt
Sewing during nap time.
I cut the skirt out and bought some new lining (thanks to Roobeedoo for the advice) and then got pregnant.

This week, spurred on by seeing a completed skirt on my weekend away in York and realising how well it would go with my red boots, I finally finished it.
Clothkits Birdie Skirt
I messed up the zip slightly, but nothing major. It was really quite easy and I managed it whilst Thomas napped over the course of three afternoons.

Clothkits Birdie Skirt
The best thing? It fits perfectly!

Now I need a cardigan to go with it.....

Propello

I have been in desperate need of a new winter hat that fits properly. I knew it would be a Woolly Wormhead pattern, and eventually chose Propello (as I love the Propeller hat in Wee Woolly Toppers - this is the adult version)

Propello Hat
I knew it would be a quick knit - maybe 3 or 4 hours total knitting time I reckon. I chose the same Colinette Iona that I knit Thomas' winter hat from. Matching hats again? Well I won't be able to get away with it for much longer!

WIP Wednesday

Wednesday again, and the WIP this week is a scarf I started in York.

The Kilt Hose socks are still out there (I've nearly finished the leg) but pictures would be a little boring.

So instead I give you the softest pointy scarf in the world:
Pimpeliese

The yarn is Nimu Helvellyn (a silk/cashmere mix) and it is the colour that Clare from Nimu overdyed for me from the Socktopus peach.  The pattern is Pimpelliese, which although almost impossible to pronounce is knitting up a treat - especially once I'd looked at the chart a fellow raveller has produced. Sometimes I need a chart to set the pattern in my head.
